2010 Homebuyer Tax Credit
First-time Buyers who buy a home between November 7, 2009 and April 30, 2010 get a $8,000 tax credit ($4,000 married filing separate). The definition of "first-time buyer" is one who has not had an interest in a principal residence for three (3) years prior to purchase. The income limits on this credit is $125,000 for single persons and $225,000 for married persons. The limitation on cost of purchased home is $800,000. Purchaser must attach documentation of purchase to tax return.
